New State-of-the-Art Swim School by New Jersey’s Leader in Swim Lessons
Brick NJ – Beginning Tuesday, August 4th, Njswim will open online registration for their new location in Brick, NJ. Njswim is New Jersey’s leader in year-round swim lessons.
The all new Njswim Brick location will begin Water Babies classes and small group swim classes for children of all ages just after Labor Day. The new state of the art complex is conveniently located in the Laurel Square Shopping Center, next to Planet Fitness between Route 88 and Highway 70 in Brick.
The custom-built swim school and aquatic center is Njswim’s 6th location in New Jersey with a massive 8000 sq. ft. footprint dedicated to quality year-round swim lessons for area families. The state-of-the-art swim school will be family, and water baby friendly, with custom changing rooms, stroller parking and hair drying stations.
This newest Njswim facility will feature a 64’ x 26’ heated indoor pool with state-of-the-art water and air filtration systems. The newest Njswim location will also feature a spacious and comfortable parent viewing area, and multi-purpose studios for toddler through adult programs and pool parties.
Njswim offers quality year-round swim lessons in NJ for all ages and abilities at five premier locations. Their developmental approach to swimming starts with water babies at age 3 months. The program then offers a variety of safety swim lessons for preschoolers, developmental stroke technique for youths and continues to advanced stroke mechanics and swim team prep. Students enrolled in Njswim will be led through a series of safety skills that are designed to enhance the aquatic experience and instill self-confidence in a safe and positive atmosphere.
WATER BABIES
As part of the Njswim curriculum, they have created an effective, approach to swimming that starts with “Water Babies” as early as age 3-months. It is designed to provide families with a safe and positive introduction to an aquatic environment. The goal is to achieve a relaxed demeanor in the water for both children and parents.
All Water Babies classes for 3 to 15-month-old babies are taught entirely with parental assistance. The next progression is for children between the ages of 16-30 months, and the goal is to wean children into lessons using less parental assistance. Water Babies I and II are specifically designed to coincide with a child’s developmental readiness. Water acclimation and a natural adaption take place through continued practice.
LEARN TO FLOAT
The Njswim “Learn to Float” philosophy is the cornerstone to their safe, effective, and proprietary swim teaching and lesson progression. A Zen-like approach to swimming allows teachers to assist swim students in developing proper body position and breath control before learning stroke techniques. Their progression is appropriate for all levels and develops a sense of safety and awareness in and around the water.
SWIM LESSONS FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES
Njswim’s safety swim lessons for preschoolers is the first level where children are independent of their parents with the teacher. Preschoolers are taught swim skills that include breath control, supported floating and how to enter and exit the pool safely.
Njswim offers FREE Swim Skills Evaluations that take only 1 to 3 minutes in the water. Once completed, a certified Njswim teacher determines the best level for your child and can present you with the best class options.

STOP DROWNING NOW
Mr. Oehme is on the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization STOP DROWNING NOW, a global nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to save lives through water safety education. Through a range of programs and events, this group works with water safety advocates by providing them with the educational tools needed to combat the epidemic of drowning and providing a drowning prevention curriculum for school age children.
HELPING DEVELOP SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Joe is working firsthand with local government officials and agencies as an advocate for the Bill he helped to initiate, A-269 which will introduce a Water Safety Curriculum to all New Jersey school children grades K-12. Joe is an active member of the United States Swim School Association, Stop Drowning Now and an advocate for the National Drowning Prevention Alliance. Joe and his beautiful wife Katie have 3 children Emma, Eli Joe, and Luke and reside in Brielle, NJ. Joe enjoys sharing his methods with others while enjoying his time in and around the water with his family.

ABOUT JOE OEHME
Joe Oehme was born and raised in Brick, NJ, and is a Jersey Shore native where he grew an affinity to aquatics at a very young age. At age 15 Joe was certified by the American Red Cross at Camp Zehnder in Brick and worked as a lifeguard on an ocean rescue squad for 3 seasons in South Mantoloking. At 18 he was certified as a Water Safety Instructor and was introduced to Pierre Gruneberg of France, whose innovative swim breathe training and fear-reducing techniques provided a new approach for swim instruction.
Joe incorporated “Le Methode Gruneberg” into his own teaching style and developed a systematic desensitization technique to reduce fear and anxiety as it related to swimming. This soon became his passion, and his studies continued formally at the Richard Stockton College New Jersey, where Joe received his BA in Psychology.
Upon graduating college, Joe’s new “learn to float” philosophy took him to Encinitas in Southern California where he taught and coached swimming. Here he introduced his innovative instructional techniques and fear-reducing methods. Joe was able to share these methods with his students while consistently assisting them to overcome their fear of water and attain personal liberation.
