Early exposure to the water is the best! Below are 4 key reasons to introduce your child to the water at an early age!
- Physical Development: Babies and Toddlers are natural swimmers due to their ability to move more freely in the water than on land. They are introduced to their own buoyancy, which helps develop balance and coordination. Swimming also strengthens their muscles and improves overall health and sleeping patterns. Subconsciously babies will remember the feeling of weightlessness they experienced when they were in the womb.
- Emotional Development: Children who start swimming at an early age tend to always love being in the water and are fearless. This also gives the parent and child a chance to bond. Children will recognizes the positive feelings of nurture and love. Most importantly-fear is learned and taught-children are not born afraid of water.
- Social Development: Many babies and toddlers have very few interactions with new people and their peers. Not only is the parent-child bond strengthened, the children will begin to develop a relationship with each other through songs and playing. During the lessons, children will develop their listening skills and trust as they experience new activities.
- Neurological Development: Children learn through movement and play! New activities and experience help the children’s brains develop and establish new connections. As a parent, you may notice an increase in concentration, alertness and emotional abilities in your children who start swimming at an early age.
